Jim Jackson Obituary

James Henry Jackson Jr, known affectionately as "Jim," was born on September 21, 1951, in Pocatello, Idaho, to James Henry Jackson Sr and Lillie May Jackson (Louthan). He peacefully passed away on April 10, 2024.

Jim graduated from Pocatello High School in the class of 1970 and proudly served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Horne during the Vietnam War. Upon his return, he found love and married his soul mate, Celeste Marie Valentine, on January 18, 1977. Together, they were blessed with two beautiful daughters, Casey in 1977 and Jeni in 1981. Jim was also a proud grandfather to six grandchildren: Samantha Jennifer (Jentz) Quintero, Orion Gage (Lily Bills) Christensen, Zoe Mae Olson, Jackson Warren Olson, Arli Casey Christensen, and Dale James Twitchell. Additionally, he was a great-grandfather to five cherished great-grandchildren: Knox Wren Quintero, Grace Mae Olson, Charlie Blake Quintero, Ivy June Quintero, and Nora Bea Quintero. Jim's love for his family was immeasurable, and he took great pride in each and every one of them.

A man of many passions, Jim enjoyed spending quality time with his family, often embarking on adventures at Twin Lakes and Seagull Bay Yacht Club. He possessed a wealth of knowledge in lures, guns, automobiles, and all things outdoor, with a particular passion for fast vehicles ranging from race cars (including his beloved Novocaine) to sand rails, four-wheelers, and boats (such as Aquabum). Jim was always ready to lend a helping hand and was known for his kind, gentle demeanor and giving nature. His piercing blue eyes had a way of making others feel better just by looking into them.

Jim often daydreamed about past and future fishing trips, with endless plans for new adventures. His favorite quote, "Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely, in a well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting, Wow, what a ride!" exemplified his zest for life and adventurous spirit. While he will be deeply missed, memories of his lively personality will endure, and we are certain he was welcomed by his best friend Nuttin, eager for another adventure together.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Celeste Marie Jackson (Valentine), his daughters, Casey (Ron) Olson and Jennifer (David Twitchell) Jackson, his six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Theda (Spencer) Hildreth, and brother-in-law, Jimmy Smith. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Lillie Mae Jackson and James Henry Jackson Sr, his sister, Sandy Smith, and his beloved dog, Nuttin.

To honor Jim's memory, please tag him on Facebook in any memories, past, present, or future pictures that remind you of him. He cherished adventures, and we know he would want everyone to continue making memories and enjoying life.
